Is GoHighLevel Legit? Reddit on the Scam Claims (2026)
Is GoHighLevel legit? Reddit says yes for the software, with three warnings about who sells it. What each scam thread says and the checks to run before you pay.

Is GoHighLevel legit?
Yes. GoHighLevel is real software from HighLevel Inc. with published prices of $97, $297 and $497 a month, and the Reddit threads that ask whether it is a scam mostly reach the same answer. Reddit's warnings are about the people around the product: course sellers promising easy agency income, resellers who vanish, and billing disputes that take persistence to resolve.

This page summarises the Reddit threads that ask the question directly, from a 225 comment debate on r/Entrepreneur to this year's posts on r/gohighlevel. The threads were read on 6 October 2026 and every one is linked, so you can check the summary against the source.
One thing to know first. A common complaint in these threads is that most people praising GoHighLevel online have an affiliate link. That includes this site. We earn a commission if you sign up through our links, which is why each claim below points to the thread it came from.
What does Reddit say when someone asks if GoHighLevel is a scam?
The biggest thread on the question is Is GoHighLevel Agency Model a Scam? on r/Entrepreneur (November 2023, 225 comments). The poster had watched YouTube and TikTok videos promising $10,000 a month from a GoHighLevel agency and noticed that every one carried an affiliate link or sold a course.
The top replies split the software from the sales pitch. Agency owners in the thread said they use GoHighLevel every day because it replaces a handful of separate tools, and several said plainly that the product is not a scam. The same replies blamed the bad reputation on resellers and self-styled gurus with pushy sales tactics. A web developer in the thread added that upselling automations to clients who don't need them is a weak business, whatever software sits behind it.
A July 2026 thread on r/gohighlevel, Trying to understand why GoHighLevel gets so much hate around here, lands in the same place. The poster argues that most of the anger comes from people who bought the $297 plan expecting a business in a box and then met a platform that does forty things. They describe spending a full week setting up the pipeline, calendar and a few automations for a small cleaning company, and say the complaints about support are consistent and fair.
| Thread | Where and when | What the replies conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Is GoHighLevel Agency Model a Scam? | r/Entrepreneur, November 2023 | The software is real and useful. The hype comes from affiliates and course sellers |
| Why GoHighLevel gets so much hate | r/gohighlevel, July 2026 | Mismatched expectations and a steep setup. Support complaints are fair |
| GoHighLevel Enables Agency Scams | r/gohighlevel, November 2025 | Buy your account direct and keep your own backups |
| Billing and support issues | r/gohighlevel, December 2025 | Use the live support room and ask for a senior adviser |
Why do some Reddit users call GoHighLevel a scam?
Three causes come up again and again. Each one has a fix.
1. Income claims from course sellers
The r/Entrepreneur thread exists because of videos that sell GoHighLevel as a route to fast agency income. Reddit's working agency owners push back on the promise and keep the tool.
The fix: judge GoHighLevel on what it does for a business you already understand. The prices are public, at $97, $297 and $497 a month, and our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown lists what each plan includes. Treat any income figure in a sales video as marketing.
2. Resellers and agencies that disappear
In GoHighLevel Enables Agency Scams (November 2025), a business owner describes buying access through an overseas agency. The agency's account was deactivated, the owner stopped replying, and the business lost its contacts, funnels and automations. The replies agree on the lesson, which is to hold your own account and keep your own exports.
A March 2026 thread, GHL resellers burning home service businesses (53 comments), reports the same pattern from a consultant's side. Business owners were paying $500 to $1,500 a month for missed call automations that never fired and review requests sent to the wrong numbers.
The fix: open your own GoHighLevel account and hire help to build inside it. If you do buy through an agency, agree the exit in writing first. HighLevel has a feature for this. Its help article on ejecting a sub-account to a new agency (updated 22 April 2026) says the sub-account becomes its own account at $97 a month and keeps its websites, funnels, calendars, contacts with their conversation history and its automations, which arrive as drafts. It is started from the agency's side of the account, so ask for that commitment before you sign.
Price is a second check. HighLevel's Minimum Advertised Pricing policy sets $97 as the lowest price a reseller may advertise for core platform access, and it bans advertised lifetime licences without written approval. A publicly advertised $29 a month sub-account or a lifetime deal is a reason to ask questions.
3. Billing and support disputes
In Has anyone else had issues with GoHighLevel billing and support? (December 2025), a user reports being charged for the $97 plan while their dashboard still showed a trial, and then struggling to reach anyone. The most useful reply comes from a commenter who says they used to work in HighLevel support. Their advice is to open the live Zoom support room from the help button and ask to be passed to a senior adviser for billing problems.
The fix: put the end date of your trial in your calendar on the day you sign up. If you cancel, do it in writing and keep the confirmation and the invoice. Our guides to the GoHighLevel free trial and to cancelling a GoHighLevel subscription walk through both. The wider set of complaints, with the BBB file, is in our GoHighLevel complaints Reddit roundup.

Is GoHighLevel getting too expensive to be worth it?
A June 2025 thread on r/HighLevel, I think Highlevel is over, argues that too many features have become paid add-ons. Most of the top replies disagree. They point out that the core platform still replaces a stack of separate subscriptions, and one notes that most add-ons carry running costs for HighLevel.
Here is what the plans include. Every plan has the full core platform: CRM, pipelines, email and SMS, funnels and websites, calendars and workflows. AI Employee is an add-on, at $50 a month per sub-account on Growth or $97 on Unlimited, and messages and calls bill by usage. You can price your own setup on our GoHighLevel pricing page before you commit.
Is the GoHighLevel agency model a scam?
No. Reselling is a documented part of the product. White label starts on the $297 Unlimited plan and SaaS Mode, which bills your clients automatically, is on the $497 Agency Pro plan.
What Reddit objects to is the idea that it is easy. A widely upvoted reseller post, 91 sub-accounts in, here's what I wish someone told me at subaccount #10 (January 2026), describes 18 months of work and a first year spent learning the hard way. We cover what those operators recommend in Reselling GoHighLevel: what Reddit says works.
What should you check before you pay for GoHighLevel?
- Own the account. Sign up yourself, so the login, the data and the billing are yours.
- Pick the plan for your size. One business fits the $97 Starter plan, which includes three sub-accounts.
- Budget for usage. Texts, calls, emails and AI bill on top of the plan.
- Diary the trial end date. Decide before it arrives.
- Get exit terms in writing if an agency is selling you a sub-account.
- Question any advertised price under $97 and any lifetime deal.
