What was GoHighLevel's Summer of AI 2026?

GoHighLevel's Summer of AI 2026 ran June 1 through August 31, 2026. Five AI tools (Ask AI, AI Studio, Workflow AI, Funnel AI, Email AI) were free for every sub-account with no activation required. A separate 30-day free trial covered Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Prompt Optimizer, and Knowledge Base for eligible sub-accounts that opted in. After the trial, accounts fell back to pay-per-use unless the agency selected a plan. GoHighLevel also offered 50% off the first three months during limited popup windows and ran a $100,000 contest tied to AI subscription activations. The promotion ended August 31, 2026.

GoHighLevel launched its biggest AI push yet on June 1, 2026: the Summer of AI. Five AI tools were free for every sub-account through August 31, with an additional 30-day free trial on the more advanced AI agents. There was also a $100,000 contest for agencies that activated qualifying AI subscriptions. The promotion ended August 31, 2026.

GoHighLevel also ran limited-time popup windows with 50% off the first three months of any plan for new users. Three windows ran (June 1-7, June 22-28, and July 13-19, 2026). All have closed.

The details mattered more than the headline. "Free" and "free trial" meant very different things here, and the eligibility rules and post-summer pricing were not immediately obvious from the marketing. This guide breaks down what was included, who qualified, what each tool costs now, and how to think about the AI Employee pricing that replaced the free window.

Two Separate Buckets: Free vs. Free Trial

This is where most coverage gets sloppy. The Summer of AI had two distinct offers, and they worked differently.

Bucket 1: Free All Summer (No Activation Needed), ended August 31

Five AI tools were free for every HighLevel sub-account from June 1 through August 31, 2026:

  • Ask AI -- the in-platform AI assistant for natural-language queries across your CRM data
  • AI Studio -- prompt-based page and site builder
  • Workflow AI -- AI-powered steps inside workflow automations
  • Funnel AI -- AI-assisted funnel and landing page creation
  • Email AI -- AI email drafting and optimization

These were available immediately with no opt-in, no activation, no eligibility requirements. Any sub-account on the platform had access. The free period ran the full 92 days regardless of when the account was created.

Bucket 2: 30-Day Free Trial (Opt-In, Eligible Accounts Only)

The second bucket covers the more powerful Specialized Agents and Agent Infrastructure:

  • Conversation AI -- multi-channel chatbot (SMS, web chat, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp)
  • Voice AI -- autonomous phone call handling (inbound and outbound)
  • Reviews AI -- automated review response management
  • Content AI -- AI content generation (text and images)
  • Prompt Optimizer -- voice AI prompt testing and refinement
  • Knowledge Base -- training data infrastructure for AI agents

This is a 30-day free trial, not a 92-day free period. The clock starts on the day the agency activates the trial for each sub-account. Activation must happen on or before August 31, 2026.

The eligibility requirements are strict:

  1. The sub-account must not currently be on an AI Employee plan (Growth or Unlimited)
  2. The sub-account must not have used these features during the lookback period of March 1 through May 31, 2026 (including pay-per-use)
  3. The sub-account must not be on a platform free trial and must be on a paid plan

Translation: this trial targets sub-accounts that have not tried AI agents yet. If an agency already has Conversation AI or Voice AI running on a sub-account, that sub-account does not qualify. The offer is designed to drive new adoption, not subsidize existing usage.

Important: This is a one-time promotion per sub-account. Sub-accounts that have already participated cannot re-enroll.

How to Activate the 30-Day Trial

The trial is opt-in at the agency level. Sub-accounts are not automatically enrolled. Here is the activation process:

  1. From Agency View, open the Get 30 days of Free AI page
  2. Click I want FREE AI
  3. Review the list of eligible sub-accounts
  4. Select the sub-accounts to enroll

The system shows which sub-accounts qualify and which do not. Agencies control exactly which accounts participate.

The Extended Trial: Up to 60 Days Free

HighLevel added a second layer to the promotion. After the initial 30-day free trial ends, eligible sub-accounts can receive an additional 30 days free if the agency enrolls the account in either:

  • AI Employee Growth ($50/month per sub-account)
  • AI Employee Unlimited ($97/month per sub-account)

The extended trial covers the same tools: Voice AI, Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Prompt Optimizer, and Knowledge Base. Normal billing begins after the additional 30-day free period ends.

This means the total possible free period for AI agents is up to 60 days per sub-account, provided the agency commits to a subscription plan before the first 30-day trial expires. The official T&C at gohighlevel.com/summer-ai-tc defines the base period as a 30-day trial, with the extended trial as a separate additional benefit.

The 50% Off Popup Windows (Separate From Free AI)

Alongside the free AI tools, GoHighLevel ran a separate platform discount during specific week-long popup windows. These were not the same as the free AI offer and were easy to confuse.

During each popup window, new users got 50% off their first three months on any plan. Existing users could get up to 50% off plan upgrades. The platform discount stacked with the free AI tools: a new user signing up during a window got both the discounted rate and full Summer of AI benefits.

Confirmed popup windows:

WindowDatesStatus
Window 1June 1 -- June 7, 2026Closed
Window 2June 22 -- June 28, 2026Closed
Window 3July 13 -- July 19, 2026Closed

All three windows have closed. No further windows were announced. All windows ran 12:00 AM–11:59 PM PDT. GoHighLevel paired each month with a featured AI agent: Conversation AI in June, Voice AI in July, and AI Studio in August.

Pricing during popup windows (first 3 months only):

PlanNormal PricePopup Window Price
Starter$97/mo~$48.50/mo
Unlimited$297/mo~$148.50/mo
Agency Pro$497/mo~$248.50/mo

After three months, billing returned to standard rates. No long-term contract was required. All popup windows and the Summer of AI promotion have ended. The 30-day extended free trial remains available year-round.

What Each Tool Costs After the Free Period

This is the part the promotional material buries. Here is what happens when summer ends.

Free-All-Summer Tools (Ask AI, AI Studio, Workflow AI, Funnel AI, Email AI)

After August 31, these tools revert to their normal pricing structure. They are included in both the AI Employee Growth ($50/month) and AI Employee Unlimited ($97/month) plans. Without a subscription, they move to pay-per-use token-based billing.

On pay-per-use, HighLevel bills AI Studio at token cost but does not publish a specific per-token rate for it the way it does for Conversation AI. HighLevel's AI pricing documentation lists exact per-model token rates for Conversation AI, for example $1.25 per million input tokens and $10.00 per million output tokens on GPT-5, but the AI Studio line in the same table reads only "At Token Cost," with no rate card attached. Treat AI Studio's post-promotional pay-per-use cost as unpublished rather than estimate it from a different product's rates. For occasional, light AI Studio use the exposure is likely small, but confirm the real charge against your own sub-account's usage screen once billing starts, not against a number this guide cannot source.

Trial Tools (Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI)

After the trial ends, the sub-account moves to whichever plan the agency selected. If no plan was chosen, the account automatically falls back to pay-per-use. No subscription is auto-assigned.

Here is the plan comparison for the AI-specific features:

The Road to $100,000 Contest

GoHighLevel is running a parallel contest called "Road to $100,000" designed to incentivize agencies to activate paid AI subscriptions during the summer window.

Dates: June 1 through August 31, 2026 Validation: September 2026 Awards: LevelUp conference, October 26, Dallas

How Points Work

Participation is automatic. Any agency with qualifying AI subscriptions earns points based on active subscriptions at the end of each month. Earlier activations carry more long-term impact:

  • An AI Unlimited account signed up in June earns up to 14 campaign points
  • The same account signed up in August earns 4 points

Point values per plan:

PlanMonthly PricePoints Per Month
AI Employee Growth$50/mo3 points
AI Employee Unlimited$97/mo6 points

Contest Divisions

Agencies compete against others their size. Division assignment locked on June 1, 2026, based on account count at that date:

DivisionAccounts1st Place2nd Place3rd Place
Launch1-10$6,000$3,000$1,000
Emerging11-50$6,000$3,000$1,000
Growth51-100$10,000$4,000$1,000
Gold101-500$10,000$4,000$1,000
Platinum501-1,000$14,000$5,000$1,000
Diamond1,001+$20,000$8,000$2,000

The total prize pool across all divisions is $100,000.

Strategic Lessons From the Promotion

The promotion had a specific logic worth understanding even in hindsight.

For agencies that used the free AI trials: The key question now is whether your sub-accounts generate enough ROI to justify AI Employee Growth ($50/month) or Unlimited ($97/month) at standard rates. The trial data you collected is the basis for that decision.

For agencies already on AI Employee plans: The five free-all-summer tools (Ask AI, AI Studio, Workflow AI, Funnel AI, Email AI) have reverted to standard AI Employee plan inclusion or pay-per-use. Your billing structure is unchanged.

The catch that hit some agencies: The promotional structure made it easy to activate AI trials across many sub-accounts and then face a significant monthly bill when the trials ended. An agency with 20 sub-accounts on AI Employee Unlimited would see $1,940/month in AI fees alone ($97 x 20), on top of the base platform subscription. If that happened, evaluate ROI per sub-account and downgrade or cancel the accounts that did not deliver value.

What This Means for the Platform

The Summer of AI was HighLevel's clearest signal yet that AI is the product's future. By making five AI tools free for three months and offering extended trials on the advanced agents, HighLevel bet that agencies would adopt AI features and find them valuable enough to keep paying for them after the promotion ended.

The pricing math worked in HighLevel's favor. AI Employee Unlimited at $97/month per sub-account is a substantial addition to the base platform cost ($97-$497/month for the platform itself). For a 50-account agency, AI subscriptions represent $2,500-$4,850/month in new revenue for HighLevel, depending on the plan mix. The free promotional period was a customer acquisition strategy for a new revenue line.

For agencies where AI agents genuinely improved operations (lead response times, appointment booking rates, review management), the ROI justified the ongoing cost. The Summer of AI data is now the basis for that decision: keep what delivered, cancel what did not.

Current AI Pricing After Summer (Post-September 1)

The Summer of AI promotion ended August 31, 2026. Here is the current pricing structure:

  • Platform features included in the base GoHighLevel plan ($97-$497/month) are unchanged. CRM, funnels, email, SMS, calendars, workflows, and other core features were never affected by the AI promotion.
  • AI Assistants (Ask AI, AI Studio, Workflow AI, Funnel AI, Email AI) are now pay-per-use or included in AI Employee plans at standard rates.
  • The advanced agent tools (Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Prompt Optimizer, Knowledge Base) are available through AI Employee Growth ($50/month per sub-account) or Unlimited ($97/month per sub-account), or pay-per-use.

The base platform pricing is unchanged: GoHighLevel Starter at $97/month, Unlimited at $297/month, and Agency Pro (previously SaaS Pro) at $497/month.

Info

Editor's Note

AI Employee pricing is per sub-account, not per agency. This is the detail that catches people. If an agency runs 30 sub-accounts and enables AI Employee Unlimited on all of them, that is $2,910/month in AI fees alone ($97 x 30), on top of the base platform subscription. The Summer of AI trial is a chance to identify which sub-accounts actually benefit from AI agents before committing to subscriptions across the board. Test strategically, not comprehensively.
