What is the GoHighLevel AI Employee plan and how much does it cost?

The GoHighLevel AI Employee is a collection of AI tools. Voice AI, Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, and Funnel AI. That automate customer calls, chat responses, review management, and content creation inside GoHighLevel. You can pay per use, take the Growth plan at $50/month, or subscribe to the Unlimited plan at $97/month per sub-account for unmetered access to core AI Employee features. This is separate from your base GoHighLevel subscription ($97–$497/month).

I've been using GoHighLevel's AI tools since they first launched Conversation AI, and the pricing used to drive me crazy. You'd enable it for a client, watch the usage tick up, and have no idea what the bill would look like at the end of the month. The metered pricing made it almost impossible to package for clients with any confidence.

The AI Employee plan changed that. For a flat $97 per month per sub-account, you get unlimited access to the core AI tools. No per-message billing, no credit tracking, no surprises. I've been running it across multiple sub-accounts for months now, and for anyone doing agency work or running a business with any real conversation volume, it's the obvious choice.

This guide breaks down exactly what's included, what still costs extra, how to set it up, and how agencies are actually packaging and selling it.

What the GoHighLevel AI Employee Can Do

The AI Employee isn't a single feature. It's a collection of five AI-powered tools bundled under one umbrella inside GoHighLevel:

Voice AI handles inbound phone calls autonomously. It answers questions, qualifies leads, books appointments, and transfers to humans when needed. As of early 2026, it supports custom voice profiles, sub-600 millisecond latency with GPT-5 Mini, and the ability to use your existing business phone number. See our Voice AI 2026 guide for full pricing and setup details.

Conversation AI is the multi-channel chatbot. It monitors incoming SMS, web chat, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and WhatsApp messages. Train it on your business information and it responds to leads automatically. Answering FAQs, qualifying prospects, and booking appointments without human involvement.

Reviews AI automates your reputation management. It sends review requests after triggers you define (appointment completed, invoice paid, project closed) and can auto-respond to incoming Google and Facebook reviews based on sentiment and your brand voice.

Content AI is GoHighLevel's writing assistant. It generates social media posts, email copy, blog content, SMS messages, and landing page text. Not the most sophisticated writing tool out there, but for quick drafts and first passes it saves real time.

Funnel AI (HighLevel now calls it Funnel & Website AI) generates funnel and website pages from a plain-language description inside the standard builder. It started with five free builds, then $0.99 per generation; HighLevel's AI tools documentation (updated 14 September 2026) now lists it as free with a 1,000-prompt daily limit per location.

AI Employee Pricing: The Three Models

GoHighLevel gives you three ways to pay for AI usage, per HighLevel's official AI pricing documentation:

GoHighLevel AI Employee pricing showing three ways to pay: pay-per-use, Growth at $50/month, and Unlimited at $97/month per sub-account

ModelPriceWhat it includes
Pay-per-useNo monthly feeEvery AI action bills at usage rates. The default when no AI Employee plan is active.
AI Employee Growth$50/month per sub-account1,000 Conversation AI responses, 100 Voice AI minutes, unlimited Reviews AI and Content AI
AI Employee Unlimited$97/month per sub-accountUnlimited Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI and Content AI

On pay-per-use, Voice AI bills per minute in parts: the voice engine at $0.045/min, text-to-speech at $0.015 to $0.170/min depending on the voice, and LLM tokens, per the official rate card. That puts a Voice AI minute between roughly $0.06 and $0.215 before token and telephony charges. Our Voice AI cost breakdown walks through the full math.

Growth ($50) fits chat-first sub-accounts that dabble in voice. Voice-led accounts outgrow it fast and usually justify Unlimited ($97). Even the $97 Unlimited plan does not cover everything: Voice AI telephony and some tools, such as Agent Studio, still carry separate usage charges.

The key word is per sub-account: 10 clients each on AI Employee Unlimited is $970/month in AI costs, on top of the base platform subscription ($97/$297/$497).

For the full breakdown, the per-minute Voice AI rate components, what still bills separately under each tier, and worked scenarios for choosing between them by sub-account volume, see the complete GoHighLevel AI pricing guide.

What's Free (No Charge at All)

Several AI features in GoHighLevel are now completely free. No credits, no AI Employee plan required:

Every AI Employee tool lives under AI Agents in the sub-account sidebar. Our Bright Smile Dental demo account, September 2026.
  • Funnel and Website AI (generating pages and sections in the classic builder) is free, up to 1,000 prompts a day per location. Its bigger sibling, AI Studio, came out of Labs for every account on 22 September 2026 and now draws on your AI plan: pay-per-use, or included with Growth, with three times the usage on Unlimited.
  • Ask AI is free for agency admins and agency users. Client sub-account users need an AI plan: pay-per-use, the $50 Growth plan or the $97 Unlimited plan, per HighLevel's Ask AI documentation (updated 18 September 2026). It was free for every sub-account during the Summer of AI, 1 June to 31 August 2026, and that promotion has ended.
  • Some workflow AI features have moved to free access as well.

The landscape here changes frequently. GoHighLevel has been progressively making more AI features free while keeping the unlimited plan as the predictable pricing option for heavy users.

How to Enable the AI Employee

Setting it up takes about five minutes:

Step 1: Switch to Agency View in GoHighLevel. Click the agency switcher at the top left of the sidebar.

Step 2: Navigate to Settings, then click the Company tab.

Step 3: Scroll down until you see the AI Employee toggle. Enable it.

Step 4: Once enabled at the agency level, go to each sub-account where you want AI Employee active and enable it individually. You control which sub-accounts have access.

Step 5: Choose your pricing model. If you want the unlimited plan, go to the Reselling tab in Agency View, find AI Employee Reselling, and configure your pricing. This is where you set the price your clients see.

What It Looks Like for a Real Business: a Dental Practice

We set up a demo sub-account for a fictional practice, Bright Smile Dental in Austin, to see what an AI Employee build looks like in practice. Here is the order we would build it in for a real client.

1. Create the chat agent. Go to AI Agents, then Conversation AI, then create an agent. You choose between a prompt based agent and a Flow Builder agent. Prompt based is the quicker start for most local businesses.

GoHighLevel Conversation AI create agent dialog offering a prompt based agent or a Flow Builder agent
Creating a Conversation AI agent: prompt based or Flow Builder.

2. Start from the appointment booking goal. The builder fills in a starter prompt with sections for Personality, Goal and Instructions, and pulls in the business name. Ours defaulted to OpenAI GPT 4.1. The right hand panel is where you add actions (like booking into a calendar), knowledge base triggers, the bot's mode, timing and pacing, response behaviour and conversation summaries. You can test the agent in the same screen once it is saved.

3. Give it the practice's answers. Under Knowledge Base, add the things patients ask about: opening hours, insurance accepted, new patient forms, emergency policy. Our sub-account allowed up to 15 knowledge bases, and there is a Create with AI option to draft one for you.

Knowledge bases the chat and voice agents answer from.

4. Add the phone side. The same practice gets a Voice AI agent on its main number to catch after-hours and overflow calls. Our AI voice agent guide walks through that build step by step.

5. Or start from a template. Agent Templates has pre-built voice and chat agents you can install and edit, which is the fastest way to a working first version.

Agent Templates: pre-built agents to install and adapt.

For a practice like this, the chat agent and the voice agent both run under the same AI Employee plan, which is why the unlimited option matters once real traffic arrives.

How Agencies Package and Sell AI Employee

This is where the AI Employee gets interesting from a business model perspective. Most agencies aren't selling "AI Employee access for $97/month". They're packaging it into branded services at a significant markup.

The AI Receptionist Package ($200–$400/month)

The most common package I've seen agencies sell. You configure Voice AI to answer inbound calls, book appointments, handle FAQs, and qualify leads. Sold to dental offices, medical spas, salons, HVAC companies, and other service businesses that miss a significant number of phone calls.

Your cost: $97/month (AI Employee unlimited) plus phone/SMS carrier costs. Your price: $200–$400/month. Your margin: $100–$300/month per client, recurring.

The price band is what agencies in this market charge, not a rate GoHighLevel sets. See the rebilling mechanism below for how the markup is actually collected.

The Full AI Employee Package ($300–$600/month)

Voice AI plus Conversation AI plus Reviews AI combined. The complete AI front desk. Handles phone, chat, SMS, and review management automatically.

Your cost: $97/month AI Employee plus carrier costs (maybe $20–$50 depending on call volume). Your price: $300–$600/month. Your margin: $150–$450/month per client.

White-Label SaaS Markup

On the Agency Pro (previously SaaS Pro) plan at $497/month, you can rebill AI Employee with markup, per HighLevel's rebilling documentation. This means you set your own price. Say $197/month, and GoHighLevel bills you $97 while you keep the difference automatically. Your client sees your brand, your pricing, your invoice.

The $297 Unlimited plan is less clear. HighLevel's AI Employee guide (updated 14 September 2026) says AI Employee rebilling needs the $497 plan, while its general rebilling guide lets the $297 plan pass usage through at cost. If you plan to rebill AI, confirm with HighLevel support before choosing $297. If the markup matters to your business model, you need Agency Pro.

The Math: When Unlimited Beats Pay-Per-Use

The break-even point depends on your usage, but here's a rough guide:

Conversation AI: At pay-per-use token pricing, a sub-account processing around 3,000–5,000 messages per month will likely exceed $97 in AI costs. If you're running active chatbots on SMS and web chat for a busy local business, you'll hit this quickly.

Voice AI: On the cheapest voice stack (engine $0.045/min plus $0.015/min TTS), pay-per-use crosses $97 at roughly 1,600 minutes per month. On a premium ElevenLabs V3 voice ($0.170/min TTS), break-even collapses to roughly 450 minutes. A business receiving 10–15 inbound calls per day at an average of 3 minutes each runs about 900–1,350 minutes per month, which clears the premium-voice break-even easily and approaches the budget-voice one.

For most agency sub-accounts with active AI features, the unlimited plan pays for itself within the first month.

The exception: if you're only using Content AI or Reviews AI with low volume, pay-per-use might be cheaper. But the moment you add Conversation AI or Voice AI with any real traffic, unlimited wins.

Ask AI and the AI Employee Plan

Ask AI is GoHighLevel's built-in AI assistant: a full-screen workspace where you can generate content, get answers, build assets, and trigger actions through natural language prompts. It is a full AI workspace rather than a chatbot tucked in a sidebar.

app.gohighlevel.com/ask-ai

GoHighLevel AI Employee Ask AI workspace with chat prompt interface, scheduled task list, and response history panel

Ask AI is free for agency admins and agency users.

Recent updates have made Ask AI significantly more powerful. It now has memory across conversations, voice input, file attachments, and as of May 2026, scheduled tasks: the ability to set recurring AI prompts that run automatically. There's also mobile access on iOS and Android.

If you're on the AI Employee plan, Ask AI is included. If you're on pay-per-use, Ask AI usage is billed per session based on model complexity.

What changed since May 2026 (checked 24 September 2026)

When this guide first went up in May, HighLevel had announced several AI Employee changes. Here is where each one stands, checked against HighLevel's help centre on 24 September 2026:

  • The cheaper tier arrived. The $50 a month Growth plan now sits below Unlimited, with 1,000 Conversation AI responses and 100 Voice AI minutes, per the AI Employee guide (updated 14 September).
  • Ask AI reached client sub-accounts. Sub-account users can use it on pay-per-use, Growth or Unlimited, per the Ask AI documentation (updated 18 September).
  • The Summer of AI promotion is over. It ran from 1 June to 31 August 2026. Its free AI trials and free Ask AI for sub-accounts have ended.
  • Voice AI rates held. The voice engine is still $0.045 a minute, the rate since 20 May 2026. See what a Voice AI minute costs.

The direction hasn't changed: more AI features included on the plans, and Unlimited as the sensible tier for any sub-account with steady usage.

My Take: Who Should (and Shouldn't) Get the AI Employee Plan

Get the unlimited plan if:

  • You're running Conversation AI on any sub-account with more than a few conversations per day
  • You're deploying Voice AI for inbound call handling
  • You're an agency reselling AI-powered services to clients
  • You want predictable monthly costs instead of variable usage billing
  • You need Ask AI access at the sub-account level for your team or clients

Stay on pay-per-use if:

  • You're only using Content AI or Reviews AI at low volume
  • You're testing AI features on a single sub-account before committing
  • Your client's business has very low inbound communication volume

For most agencies running GoHighLevel seriously, the AI Employee unlimited plan isn't optional. It's the baseline. The real business model is in packaging these tools at 2–5x markup under your own brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the GoHighLevel AI Employee per month?
There are three ways to pay, each per sub-account. Pay-per-use has no monthly fee and bills each AI action. The Growth plan is $50 a month and includes 1,000 Conversation AI responses and 100 Voice AI minutes. The Unlimited plan is $97 a month for unmetered Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI and Content AI. All three sit on top of your base GoHighLevel plan, and phone and SMS carrier charges bill separately.
Is the AI Employee plan included in the GoHighLevel subscription?
No. The AI Employee unlimited plan at $97/month per sub-account is a separate add-on on top of your base GoHighLevel subscription ($97/$297/$497 per month). It covers unlimited use of core AI features like Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Funnel AI, and Ask AI for that sub-account.
What is the difference between AI Employee and AI Employee Plus?
AI Employee includes Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Funnel AI, Voice AI (inbound), and Ask AI. All covered under the $97/month unlimited plan. AI Employee Plus features. Agent Studio, Voice AI Widget, Voice AI Outbound, and Voice AI Prompt Optimizer. Are not included and are always billed on a pay-per-use basis regardless of your plan.
Can I rebill the AI Employee cost to my clients with markup?
Only on the Agency Pro plan ($497/month, previously called SaaS Pro). Agency Pro lets you set your own price for AI Employee and keep the margin. HighLevel's AI Employee guide (updated 14 September 2026) ties AI Employee rebilling to the $497 plan. Its general rebilling guide lets the $297 plan pass usage through at cost with no markup, so confirm with HighLevel support if that matters. The Starter plan does not support rebilling.
Does the AI Employee unlimited plan cover phone and SMS charges?
No. Phone and SMS carrier charges through LC Phone or Twilio are billed separately. The AI Employee plan covers the AI processing costs (the intelligence behind the conversations and calls), not the telecom infrastructure. Budget an additional $20–$50/month per sub-account for carrier costs depending on volume.
How much does GoHighLevel Voice AI cost without the unlimited plan?
On pay-per-use, Voice AI bills three components: a $0.045/min engine fee, text-to-speech from $0.015 to $0.170/min depending on the voice, and LLM tokens. That is roughly $0.06 to $0.215 per minute plus tokens, with telephony billed separately. On the cheapest stack, break-even against the $97 unlimited plan sits around 1,600 minutes per month; on premium ElevenLabs V3 voices it is roughly 450 minutes.
Is Ask AI free in GoHighLevel?
Ask AI is free for all agency admins and agency-level users. Sub-account admins and users need an AI plan: pay-per-use, the $50 Growth plan or the $97 Unlimited plan, per HighLevel's Ask AI documentation (updated 18 September 2026). It was free for every sub-account during the Summer of AI, which ended on 31 August 2026.
