GoHighLevel Tasks V2: What Changed and How to Use It
10 min read ยท Updated July 2026

What is GoHighLevel Tasks V2?
Tasks V2 is a rebuilt task manager for GoHighLevel's mobile app, released June 11, 2026. It adds recurring tasks, opportunity linking, multiple contact associations (up to 10 per task), board view alongside list view, smart time-based sections (Overdue, Today, This Week, Upcoming), and richer task cards that display linked contacts and opportunities without opening the task. The update is available on all GoHighLevel plans at no additional cost.
GoHighLevel released Tasks V2 on June 11, 2026. It is a ground-up rebuild of the mobile app's task manager, adding features that agencies have requested since the original task system launched.
The old task system worked for basic to-dos but fell short for agency operations. Tasks could link to one contact. There was no way to connect tasks to deals. Recurring tasks required workarounds through workflows. The mobile experience was a stripped-down version of the desktop view.
Tasks V2 fixes all of that. This guide covers every new feature, what actually changed versus the old system, and how agencies can apply these updates to daily operations.
What Is New in Tasks V2
Recurring Tasks
Tasks can now repeat on a schedule without workflow workarounds.
Frequency options:
- Hourly
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
End conditions:
- Never (continues indefinitely)
- On a specific date
- After a set number of occurrences
There is also a setting to create the next task even if the previous one is overdue. This is important for agency operations where a team member might fall behind on one occurrence but the schedule should not be disrupted.
Info
The next recurring task is created at the scheduled time based on the original creation date, not immediately after the previous task is completed. This means the schedule stays consistent regardless of when individual tasks are checked off.
Practical applications:
- Weekly client check-in calls for account managers
- Monthly reporting reminders per client account
- Daily lead follow-up reviews for sales teams
- Recurring QA checks on active campaigns
Before this update, agencies either used workflows to create tasks on schedules or relied on external tools like Asana or ClickUp for recurring operations. Tasks V2 brings this capability inside GoHighLevel.
Opportunity Linking
Tasks can now be connected directly to opportunities (deals) in the pipeline. This is the most significant change for agencies that tie every action to revenue.
Previously, tasks linked only to contacts. If a salesperson had a follow-up task, there was no native way to see which deal it related to. The task might say "Follow up with John" but not indicate which of John's three active deals the follow-up was about.
With opportunity linking:
- Every follow-up task shows the connected deal directly on the task card
- Pipeline managers can see which deals have pending tasks
- Revenue attribution is clearer because actions connect to specific dollar values
- Task filtering by opportunity makes deal-specific task lists possible
Multiple Contact Associations
A single task can now link to up to 10 contacts. Previously, one task equaled one contact, which led to duplicate tasks when an action involved multiple people.
Examples where this matters:
- A meeting prep task for a call with three stakeholders
- A proposal review task involving the primary contact and two decision-makers
- An onboarding task that requires coordination across multiple team members at a client organization
Each linked contact appears on the task card. Clicking any contact opens their full record.
Board View
Tasks now have two display modes:
- List view: The traditional linear list, now with smart sections
- Board view: A visual Kanban-style layout organized by status columns
Both views include the same filtering, sorting, and bulk action capabilities. The choice is a workflow preference.
Board view works well for visual thinkers and team leads who need to scan task status at a glance. List view is more efficient for individual contributors working through their daily task list sequentially.
Smart Sections
In both List and Board views, tasks automatically group into time-based sections:
- Overdue: Past due date, not completed
- Today: Due today
- This Week: Due within the current week
- Upcoming: Due after this week
This prevents the problem of important tasks hiding at the bottom of a long unsorted list. Overdue items are always visible at the top.
Richer Task Cards
The task tile now displays linked contacts and opportunities directly on the card without needing to open the full task detail. In the old system, the card showed only the task title and assignee. Identifying what a task related to required clicking into it.
With the updated cards, a quick scan of the board or list reveals:
- Task title and description
- Assignee
- Due date and status
- Linked contact name(s)
- Linked opportunity name and pipeline stage
This reduces the number of clicks needed during daily task review sessions.

How Agencies Can Use Tasks V2
Daily Operations Rhythm
A typical agency operations rhythm with Tasks V2:
Morning (5 minutes): Open Tasks in Board view. Scan the Overdue column first. Any overdue items get resolved or rescheduled immediately. Check the Today column to confirm the day's workload.
Throughout the day: Complete tasks, mark them done. New tasks created by workflows or team members appear in the appropriate time section automatically.
End of day (3 minutes): Quick scan of This Week to preview tomorrow's load. Adjust priorities if needed.
The smart sections make this rhythm possible without manual sorting or filtering. The task list organizes itself.
Client Account Management
Set up recurring tasks for each client account:
- Weekly: Review campaign performance metrics
- Monthly: Compile and send client report
- Monthly: Review and optimize ad spend allocation
- Quarterly: Strategic review meeting preparation
Link each task to both the client contact and their primary opportunity. When the account manager opens any client-related task, the deal value and pipeline stage are immediately visible.
Sales Pipeline Coordination
For agencies with a dedicated sales team:
- When a new opportunity enters the pipeline, a workflow creates a follow-up task
- The task auto-links to the opportunity and primary contact
- Sales reps see the task in their daily view with deal context on the card
- Recurring tasks ensure consistent follow-up cadence on active deals
- When the deal closes, incomplete follow-up tasks can be bulk-completed
The opportunity link means no follow-up task exists in isolation. Every action ties back to revenue.
Team Task Distribution
For agencies with multiple team members:
- Assign tasks to specific team members from any view
- Filter by assignee to see individual workloads
- Use Board view in team meetings to discuss task status visually
- Bulk actions allow managers to reassign or reschedule multiple tasks quickly
Multi-Object Task Associations
Tasks V2 builds on GoHighLevel's broader multi-object association system. A single task can connect to:
- Up to 10 contacts
- Up to 10 opportunities
- Up to 10 companies
- Up to 10 custom objects
When creating a task from a specific context, GoHighLevel applies smart defaults:
- From a Contact: Pre-links the contact plus their primary company (if any)
- From an Opportunity: Pre-links the opportunity, its primary contact, and that contact's primary company
- From a Company: Pre-links the company
- From the Tasks page: Starts with no associations (pick any)
These defaults can be edited, added to, or removed at any time using the Associate To dropdown in the task editor.
Workflow Integration
Tasks created through GoHighLevel workflows gain all Tasks V2 features automatically. Existing workflow actions that create tasks will benefit from the new interface without requiring changes to the workflow itself.
Key workflow considerations:
- The Add Task workflow action can create tasks without a contact. These appear as standalone tasks in the Tasks list.
- Tasks created by workflows support recurring schedules when configured in the workflow action
- The Due In field supports dynamic mode, allowing variable-based date assignment
For agencies with existing workflow-based task creation, Tasks V2 is a presentation and capability upgrade, not a breaking change.
Availability
Tasks V2 is available on all GoHighLevel plans:
- Starter ($97/month): Full Tasks V2 functionality
- Unlimited ($297/month): Full Tasks V2 functionality
- Agency Pro (previously SaaS Pro) ($497/month): Full Tasks V2 functionality
The update rolled out on June 11, 2026, with version 4.18.0 of the GoHighLevel mobile app. It is a free update included in all subscriptions, and it is fully usable during the 30-day free trial.
